WHAT EXACTLY DOES AUTO DETAILING MEAN?
The confusion of “washing” vs. the professional “detailing” of a car is not uncommon. After all, aren’t we just cleaning the car? The answer, as it turns out, is also not quite as simple and requires a detailed explanation (pun intended).
When referring to a “car wash,” the general definition is a tunnel setup whereby the vehicle can either drive through or be automatically pulled along a track where soap and water are applied while mechanical brushes rotate around the vehicle. The drying process usually consists of employees using a towel or a giant blow dryer. The result is, at first glance, your vehicle can appear mostly clean for a relatively cheap price.
SO WHAT’S WRONG WITH AN AUTOMATIC CAR WASH?
An automatic car wash can leave scratches and swirls in your paint. We have worked on countless vehicles with damaged paint as a result of the brushes at these automatic car washes. First off, many times the brushes used to scrub your vehicle are not cleaned. If the car that went in before you just got back from a sandy beach vacation, or just has general dirt and grime built up, there will be some sand or dirt left in the brushes that can scratch your paint.
In addition, many times the workers at the end use the same towel as the car before to dry your car by hand which means cross-contamination and can leave a residue. Automatic car washes focus on efficiency over quality; meaning, how fast can they get your car out so that the next one can get through.
HOW DOES DETAILING A VEHICLE DIFFER?
For starters, auto detailers (such as Magic Auto Detailers) use the method of two bucket hand washing instead of an automated system. We are trained to the highest caliber on how to take care of a vehicle. Proper procedures along with the right formulas mean your vehicle receives only the best treatment. FAQs
How long does a full detail take?
There is a no straight forward answer to this question. The principal reason being, we cannot determine an exact time without evaluating the condition of the paintwork beforehand. This is a common question, and we insist on not letting the client down so we therefore prefer to assess the car beforehand.
Generally a ‘New Vehicle Detail’ (excluding paint correction) will take at least 5-8 hours to complete, and all other treatments offered will take longer. Our aim is to provide 100% customer satisfaction and a task as this should not be rushed.
How do I book my car for an appointment?

How do I make changes or cancel a booking?
If for any reason you may need to cancel, simply give us a call to alter an appointment date or a cancellation. However, we kindly ask you to give us at least 48 hours’ notice.
How far will Magic Auto Detailers travel?
We service all of Oakland, Livingston, and Macomb counties. Additional trip charges may apply for traveling outside of our normal boundary.

I just purchased a new vehicle; does it need to be detailed?
A new car rarely leaves the showroom with adequate protection as well as a high-quality finish. In fact, a brand-new car is not always as new as one would think; the vehicle is usually subject to various contaminants in the air during transportation and long storage times. After which, once the vehicle has arrived at the dealership, the vehicle is commonly subject to a quick wash with a dirty sponge and chamois which will, in turn, inflict more damage to the paintwork. This is not the perfect start for your pride and joy!
We can provide the perfect foundations and the car will look better than “brand new” as well as being well protected. The client will also be informed with which products to use and how to maintain the high level of finish that Magic achieves.
How do I know if my car needs a paint correction?
Swirl marks are very apparent when your car is under bright light or the Sun, the swirl marks distort the reflection of the light. This is what causes your car to look dull as it does not reflect any light source fully and in turn does not appear shiny. That’s why paint correction can be the solution. Is waxing necessary for a car that has a clear coat?
Short answer is yes, waxing is important for your car.
Without a proper, regular waxing, your car can become faded and even damaged. When you get a professional wax & sealant, you protect the finish of your vehicle and help prevent costly repairs.
What are the best ways to keep my vehicle looking new between details?
Proper hand washing is the safest way to keep your car’s exterior looking great. Hand washing ensures that your vehicle isn’t damaged by harsh chemicals or cleaning tools. We recommend washing your vehicle about once a week depending on usage, and after any rainfall to help prevent damage to the exterior.
Is a drive-through car wash safe for my vehicle?
Generally, no. Drive-through automatic car washes are known to use harsh chemicals that damage your vehicle’s wax, sealant, clear coat, and paint. Drive-through car washes also risk damaging your mirrors and any other exterior component of your vehicle.
To avoid cross contamination of sand and dirt from other vehicles, hand washing is the only recommended method for safe, thorough cleaning that won’t harm your vehicle.
Do I need a professional to clean my leather interior?
Yes, ideally your leather interior should be treated routinely so that it doesn’t become dry and develop cracks or other damages. When you book an interior cleaning with our team, we’ll use a professional leather conditioner to help keep your vehicle’s leather healthy and looking new.
Can all headlights be restored?
We can restore about 85% of all headlights. Headlights that are worn and faded on the inside of the lens should be replaced.
Will detailing help sell my car?
Yes. Professional detailing will increase the value and in most cases the detail cost is recouped upon the sale with additional profit. Your car will sell quicker and expand your market of prospective buyers because it is clean and has a well-maintained appearance.
